Rorschach Map

2017/ / Paint on glass / 100x70cm (3 units)

To create a world map, you have to forget the real surroundings and enter into a particular mental reality where the perceptible world is reconstructed via abstraction and simplification. In this piece, I superimposed the silhouettes of two world maps, forming an image reminiscent of the Rorschach tests used in psychodiagnostics, to highlight the psychological side of all such representations of the terrain. Every map is invariably influenced by its creators’ own ideology, and, in turn, its users undergo a truly effective form of indoctrination.
