2014 / Monotype on board / 50 × 70 × 3 cm

Many works of science fiction have described journeys to the Moon, and their ideas have greatly influenced developments in science and technology. In this piece, I recreate our satellite in order to highlight the influence of various visionary writers. They include Jules Verne in From the Earth to the Moon, in which he correctly predicted certain phenomena regarding the effects of gravity in outer space; Johannes Kepler in Somnium, which describes a dreamlike trip to the Moon; and Lucian of Samosata, who wrote, in the 2nd century AD, the earliest known work about space travel and alien lifeforms.
