Sedimentary Paint

2010 / Mixed technique / Canvases and wood / 50 × 50 × 100 cm

Our experience is the result of living through endless events, day after day. As such, our knowledge of the world seems to build up layer by layer, just like the sedimentary formation of certain mineral and plant forms. However, the official education system has long claimed that knowledge is acquired in a linear way, and it is stored in our minds accumulatively. In this piece, I contrast these two ideas by using all of the paintings I created during my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts — when piled up and pressed, they comprise several years of teachings and experiences.
