Lazy Eye

Sometimes, the perceptual limitations of our visual organ, combined with our brain’s interpretation of the data received, plays tricks on us — we see things that are not there, and vice versa. In this work, I have modified an old eye-testing chart by swapping out its transparent glass panels for translucent ones. This way, I forcibly create uncertainty: the closer the viewer gets to the charts, to recognise the letters and symbols, the blurrier the image gets.
